What is The Ordinary?
The Ordinary is this not so new skincare brand that you may also find on Asos. Obviously I have only try it now. They are free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury and oxybenzone. They are what is written on the boxes, no less no more.
Now the problem is translating what it is written on them. So after a few researches, I have found the two products perfect for Acne Skin and Acne-prone skin:
– The Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
– The Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
I am now going to talk more in details of these two. My decision in getting one gel product and a creamy one is because they both help moisturize the skin and in fading blemishes and redness.
As I have openly talked here in Loving My Imperfections post, my skin is a acne-prone skin. It also suffers of dehydration while it cannot stand heavy moisturizers, it is not an oily type of skin for sure.
Keep reading if you want my advise on these two bad boys.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Firstly remember, I am a tester like all of you. I don’t have any special knowledge on skincare except the ones I learned on the field by trying lots of different products.
Having said that, my first impression on this gel formula was so good. I applied a few drops of it once a day before serum or moisturizer and it gave me more consistency.
I felt like my skin got more hydration. Unfortunately it is very strong that I cannot hold it for a long period of time. Keeping it in my daily skincare routine is not possible since it blocks my pores routine.
It creates a mask on the surface of my skin where my pores cannot regenerate themselves and with such a delicate skin, this hyaluronic acid was half a fail for me.
I loved the dense consistency of this gel formula but it is too heavy for my skin. If you only have acne problem, then I highly suggest you this, but if you are like me and you have a mixed skin, then try it out and see how it behaves.

Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
The Natural Moisturizer is a very dense cream to also add in the morning and in the evening before your cream. I don’t have anything bad to say on it. It makes your everyday cream more intense and efficient.
Plus you can also use it as a quick moisturizer on-the-go when you don’t have time or when you don’t want something heavy on your skin. I tried it this way and I have to say it is a partial help, at least it gives a little nutriment to the skin.
Overall, if you have a acne skin I would say that after having cleaned your face, these products associated with your normal skincare routine would help you having your skin in control.
I really wish though there would be a little brief behind the packing which says for what type of skins are they for and I wouldn’t mind if they would tell you what they do. Trying to do the scientists and translating of those acronyms makes me crazy.
Sorry but I am being practical and I have no time to dig the internet to look for every single ingredient and it means.
Sorry again but working full time makes you super tired at night, therefore why I love the beauty blogosphere. Thanks to it, I can read articles and reviews on the Ordinary and I can have some feedback on them. And that is the reason why I have decided to try them and tell you what I think.
Hope it might be helpful. I am here if you have some doubts.
