Today I am going to talk you through 3 mistakes you don’t know you make when you came back blogging after a little while. I have found them to be the most annoying mistakes ever. And you don’t even realise but you make them too.

You may have noticed how inconsistent I have been during this past few months. Not only on social media (I am still blaming the IG algorithm) but over the blog as well.

I had no time to upload new content, no energy to create new editorials and not to mention keeping Ig and Twitter alive. Was it all because of my full-time job as a e-commerce photographer? Yes but not only.

When I had some spare time, I just wanted to hang out with friends and spend some quality time together. Not to mention, I wanted to rest. Blog was in a mess situation, so putting my hands on it was not an option. Lazy me.

Then it happened that I hit the ground and I found myself being totally selfish. I had worked so much with this blog and now I was just giving up? Well, that wasn’t me. So I put myself on it again since I have found my passion’s back.

The 3 Best Fails of My Coming Back to Blogging

Getting back to blogging is not easy especially when the internet and blogging community change so fast. Moreover trying to be up to date with the new policies (Data ohh yes!) and with new tools is gets overwhelming.

Today I want to share with you some points where I brilliantly fail while trying to put together 35mminstyle again.

There are 3 mistakes that you do when you come back blogging:

1. Refreshing the look of your landing page

I was tired of seeing the usual three background images on my landing page so I wanted to change it without realising how complicated is my landing page. It is made by so many widget and each one has a specific spot with related HTML formulas and I was messing it all up.

At the beginning I only wanted to make the footer IG tool work again. What really happened? I deleted it, changed positions to some widgets on the go and got crazy. In the end, I managed to put it back together but it took TIME! Rush is never your friend. Now I am taking my time to shoot the new three background images.

2. Destroying every connections to your blog

Let me explain. My Portfolio page wasn’t working at all. So I read on the theme FAQs that I had to change the Permalinks and just click save and it would have all worked. It didn’t. I had Jetpack which was creating a double portfolio page so after deleting it, the one I am using now it worked. See my film photography portfolio – I am very proud of the dynamic lay-out.

What happened was the by changing the Permalinks, I changed every link name on the posts of my blog. Meaning, every search directed users to 404 Page Not Found. Also, I am not obsessed with statistics, but for a few days my visits per day went from 200 to 8. Something was definitely wrong.

Learning from my mistakes: whether you decide to go with a specific permalink (date + name or whatever you like), ALWAYS stick with it! Do not change it inbetween.

3. Getting panic attacks and stop working on it

I don’t know if it has ever happened to you but when technology doesn’t work I get so frustrated and I give up. I mean, after trying 100 possibilities and yet not succeeding, I would throw my laptop off the window. I get irrational – I could never learn that a good night sleep sometimes may help.
