In order to help the planet and our wallets, I choose to write about how to restyle winter wardrobe staples with the right accessories.
How to Restyle Winter Wardrobe Staples
Canon 5D Mark III
Every year there are new clothes we want but to be honest I find myself choosing specific items I still love. It’s hard for me to let go and I am always very talented in restyling winter wardrobe staples with new additions.
This geometric cape from Topshop has been in my wardrobe for I would said more or less three years. It was actually one of my first style posts on this blog when it was called kateidoscope. I remember I styled it with black skinny ripped jeans and high boots. Instead this year I decided to wear it again but differently.
Now this may happen to you too. All you have to do us simply rearrange and play. So many wardrobe staples, especially coats and jackets, may be reused. Think of a leather jacket, a shearling biker jacket, a long camel coat or a puffy outwear. All of these might look new if you style them with the right accessories. It’s good for your wallet as for the planet. Consumerism and fast fashion should be controlled. We need to be aware and shop consequently. After all, it’s the small things that matter. Step by step we can make a change.
Remember to add basic new pieces to the iconic wardrobe staple. For instance, this year over the knee boots are still very on trend and I find them so comfy and warm. Therefore I added them in the look as for a floral skirt and a basic grey top. In this case, the blanket cape is the iconic piece due to its pattern, so I had to stay almost monochrome with the other pieces. Not to over-style the whole outfit.
What I am wearing: Rayban Clubmaster sunnies / Topshop Blanket Cape (old) / Subdued grey top (old) / Brandy & Melville floral skirt (old) / Primark OTK boots (in store)
What’s your favourite winter wardrobe staple? I actually have this blanket cape and a gorgeous black shearling biker jacket which is so warm. Let me know.
