As you may remember from this post on The Ordinary Products for Acne Skin, I have an acne prone skin as much as a very sensitive skin. Definitely a dehydrated one as well. Yes, I almost have it all. So what I know for sure is that oily products are the devil for me but now I have discovered new things too.
I am going to talk you through those hyped skincare products – they are all moisturizing day creams – the blogging world is always craving about, I have tried them myself and I was not fully happy. Anyway, do not despair, soon I am going to write a post on the Hyped Skincare Products That are Honestly Heaven talking of night creams.
The Ordinary
The first product is not a new one on this blog but I was still very disappointed. It’s the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. Before buying this on Asos, I had read everywhere how hyaluronic acid is at the basics of moisturising skins. Apparently the thick gel consistency does not work on the long run for me. It felt great to my skin since it quickly sinked into it but after a few days I started having cystic acne under the surface. Result, my skin was no longer breathing because the hyaluronic acid acted like a cap. I need to find another way to fully hydrate my face. |
Frank BodyAnother Asos purchase was this everyday face moisturiser from Frank Body. I have read reviews, the list of ingredients which is completely natural – so why does it not work for me? Apart from the awful scent it leaves, it is a very light cream but even this one, after a week or so, it left me with new spots under the skin. Maybe it’s too delicate or perhaps it contains something my skin reacts badly, I am not sure. What I know is this cream is a big no for me. |
Charlotte Tilburry
My biggest disappointment: Charlotte’s Magic Cream. I bought the small size version on a Xmas set from Cult Beauty because I really wanted to try it out. Every blog I read had a review that said how exceptional this cream was! I thought, well I should be okay this time and having no problem at all, finally!, but hello hello, no.
This cream has nothing magical for my skin. First of all, it is so thick it is even difficult to remove it from the little jar. Applying to the skin then seems unnatural, it takes a bit before smoothly lay on the skin.
Smell is really nice, it smells of roses (I guess there is some rose oil inside) but now I identify that scent with something bad. This cream, as the other ones, covers my skin preventing it from breathing. Sebum is stuck underneath and this is not good. Aww Charlotte… 🙁
CliniqueThe Moisture Surge, hydrating supercharged concentrate is a new addition to the Clinique range and I have tried a sample for a few days and it worked perfectly. Then when I bought the entire bottle and I started using every morning, well you may imagine what happened… Again my skin wasn’t breathing. Here I guess it’s the gel formula which is not good for me. Here in the gel there are soft micro bubbles. Also, by being a concentrate gel formula, it maybe works best with skins in need of even more hydration than mine.

In general, what I noticed, is that my skin loves creams not too thick and not too soft which have to hydrate not too much.
Now I am trying a Sephora gel cream specific for redness, acne skin and irritation and my skin is peeling off. Seriously, it’s a never ending story – my next move is trying the Sunday Riley cream C.E.O. antiOXIDANT Protect + Repair Moisturizer.
Have you ever tried it? Or do you have such problems as I do in finding a right day cream? Man, I though that finding the prefect shade of foundation was difficult, but this another level.
