Skater Style 2.0
Milan, May 14
Have you noticed how skater style is spreading all over Europe? Well, I am and I am so excited although my balance on skateboards is awful and I cannot stand still on those bad boys! Never mind, the important fact is their fashion. I love love love it. It’s genuine and casual and at the same time, so unawarely cool.
The story is that just half an hour ago, I was sitting in the subway here in Milan when a group of 5/6 teenage boys got on. They were so surprised to find a whole bench waiting for them (let me explain: usually you have difficulties in finding even just one seat). So that was really shocking! They started hurrying up in a clumpsy-funny way and there, is where I started laughing. Also it was when I noticed they all have skateboards.
This young group of Italian skaters were all in t-shirts and jeans, some with sunnies on, others without; no baseball hats though. But most importantly, two of them caught my attention. They looked so much like Jack&Finn Harries and Ben Brown reminding me of their attitude towards life. And they reminded me of Aube and Middkids too (= my American friends).
The first one was wearing a white tank top, some shorts dark jeans, he had a normal skateboard and a simple black string into his short blond hair. The second one – my fav – had long dark-brown hair, black tank top, black jeans cut at knees and a penny board. a blue one. He is absolutely the first Italian guy that I see, using it. I was so so impressed. They truly made me smile.
So, welcome skater style made of tank tops, strings and bandanas, penny boards and also baseball hats (rigorously worn back front). Just as Joe Sugg and lotsss of American and Brits do nowadays. It’s slowly coming to Italy too… I saw a couple of guys downstairs the subway stations wearing them.
Unluckily, I wasn’t brave enough to ask the guys to take pictures of them…my bad. (so all the picture are sort of a moodboard of skater style 2.0!)
